Product Description

Our oregano plants grow wild in the Mediterranean region, and are hand-picked at elevations as high as 10,000 feet, where carvacrol levels are typically higher. The soil in these areas is untouched and mineral-rich, providing added nutritional benefits to the consumer. Upon harvesting, the wild oregano is carefully dried and steam-distilled, using methods that ensure the oil retains its original chemistry with minimal alteration. The pure wild oregano oil is then mixed with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, in a ratio of 1:3.

Ingredients: Pure, Mediterranean Wild Oregano Oil (naturally-occurring 75% Carvacrol), in a base of certified organic extra virgin olive oil, with no additives.

Suggested use: take 1 or several drops daily under the tongue, or more as needed. Rub topically; heat sensation is normal. Avoid contact with eyes or genitals. Don't use if pregnant or nursing. Keep out of reach of children. Shake well.

The wild oregano plants used in the production of our product grow in an organic environment. NO herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers or chemical procedures of any sort (irradiation/fumigation) are used on our wild oregano plants. Furthermore, our oil is NOT "standardized". This means that the naturally-occurring phytochemistry within the oil has not been tampered with, and the important natural "synergy" between compounds remains. What we offer is a completely pure and natural product, just as Mother Nature intended. Our number one priority is ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality ingredients available.

Wild Oil of Oregano has the following medicinal properties:

Antibacterial, Antiviral, Antifungal and Antiparasitic Oregano Oil Benefits
First and foremost, wild Oil of Oregano is a powerful antimicrobial. Numerous scientific studies and human experience have confirmed its ability to destroy all types of "germs" causing infection - viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. When you consider how many health conditions are caused by these pathogenic microorganisms, it becomes apparent why Oil of Oregano is such a useful remedy. In vitro studies have proven oregano essential oil to be as effective as leading prescription antibiotics against bacteria. Yet unlike these toxic drugs, wild oregano oil is safe for internal use and does not allow for the development of resistant germs (a.k.a. "super bugs").*

Anti-inflammatory, Antispasmodic, Analgesic, Antirheumatic and Vulnerary Oregano Oil Benefits
Oil of Wild Oregano also has strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which makes it useful for many conditions where pain and inflammation is present. For instance, it is excellent for sore muscles and joints, athletic injuries, as well as open wounds and burns. For those conditions where pain and inflammation are symptoms of infection (ie. toothaches), Oil of Oregano is the perfect treatment - it aggressively fights invading pathogens, while relieving discomfort. Many people are surprised at its ability to reduce or stop the pain of severe tissue damage. However, veterans of Oil of Oregano argue that it is "the closest thing to morphine in nature".*

To compliment its pain-killing ability, it also has vulnerary properties, so it speeds the healing of wounds and open sores. Needless to say, it is an invaluable item for first-aid kits and a necessity for anyone who spends time in the backcountry. Oil of Oregano is an ideal topical rub for muscles and joints for several reasons: 1) As an essential oil, it deeply penetrates tissue and reaches the source of the problem; 2) Its natural anaesthetic compounds reduce pain; 3) Its anti-inflammatory properties combine with antispasmodic actions, to relax and sooth inflamed and spastic tissue; 4) It is also an antirheumatic, which means it eases the stiffness of joints and improves mobility. Many people have found Mediteranean Oil of Oregano helpful for arthritis, and athletes with reduced joint mobility and muscle injuries have also found it beneficial. It is not surprising that an increasing number of massage therapists are using wild oregano oil in their practice, and are recommending it to their clients.*

Expectorant and Antitussive Oregano Oil Benefits
Oil of Oregano is also a strong expectorant, which means that it loosens phlegm and mucous in the sinuses and lungs. As an antitussive, it relieves coughing. These two properties compliment Oil of Oregano's powerful germ-fighting actions - and the result is a cold and flu remedy that is unmatched by all other natural and pharmaceutical products on the market. In addition to colds and flus, there are other infection-related conditions characterized by congestion and/or coughing - for instance, bronchitis and sinusitis. Many people have successfully treated these virulent infections using wild Oil of Oregano, after years of trying pharmaceutical drugs that have not worked. It's worth noting that Mediterranean cultures have relied on wild oregano for thousands of years, for its ability to conquer respiratory infections while easing congestion and relieving coughing fits.*

Carminative and Choleretic Oregano Oil Benefits
Wild Oil of Oregano is also a carminative, so it relieves gas upset and helps settle the digestive system. As a choleretic, it stimulates bile excretion which aids in digestion. It's anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties further aid in digestion by relaxing and soothing spastic and inflamed tissue within the stomach and intestines. As a result, Oil of Oregano is used for conditions such as indigestion, bloating, stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea and gas. In some cases, these are only symptoms of a larger problem - infection. Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites commonly root themselves within the digestive system, and cause illness. When infection is the culprit, Oil of Oregano aggressively attacks these pathogenic microorganisms while helping to alleviate unpleasant symptoms, and assist with digestion.*

Other Properties
Mediterranean oregano is a potent antioxidant. It has proven in many scientific studies to be far more effective at halting free radical production than most plants and fruits. It is also a cytopylactic (increases white blood cell activity), and a febrifuge (combats fever). Many people are surprised to learn that Oil of Oregano is also an antitoxic and antivenom. It counteracts the effects of toxins and poisons - and neutralizes venom from insect and snake bites! Of course, in the event of a venomous bite we recommend immediate medical attention. However, if Oil of Oregano is frequently applied and taken orally it will certainly help - and may keep you alive while getting to a hospital.*

Quality Assurance
All of our oil is laboratory tested in Vancouver, British Columbia. Using modern and accurate instruments, the oil is analyzed for potency, purity, and identity. Ongoing Quality Assurance testing ensures that our Oil of Oregano surpasses our label claims and quality standards. We are proud to guarantee a minimum of 75% Carvacrol, which is the active ingredient responsible for Oil of Oregano's antimicrobial effectiveness. Furthermore, we guarantee minimal levels of thymol (usually less than 2%). This ensures that our oil is always non-toxic and safe for internal use.

How And Why Wild Oregano Oil Sometimes Gets Cloudy:

- When the oil of wild oregano is freshly mixed (emulsified) with extra virgin olive oil, it naturally becomes cloudy.
- It tends to become cloudy in cold weather.
- When the two components combine, the wild oregano oil can remain cloudy for several weeks.
- The cloudiness demonstrates the fact that wild oregano oil is a crude and natural product, without synthetic additives.
- The phenomenon occurs in some batches and not in others; it depends on several variables which leave some bottles of wild oregano oil clear weeks after bottling while some remain cloudy.
- Cloudy wild oregano oil is never a sign of contamination, rather an indication of recent bottling and cold weather. It is also affirmation of its natural properties, void of synthetic additives.

Here's What Jini Says

If I were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing along, wild oregano oil would be it! If I were allowed 2 things, I'd also bring comfrey - just saying.

My books have instructions for many uses for wild oregano. The most important is Jini's Wild Oregano Oil Protocol which is used to rid the gut of infectious agents and then implant a healthy bacterial population.

But you can also use wild oregano ANYWHERE you have inflammation or infection: mouth ulcers, ear infections, tooth or gum infections, fungal infections... the list goes on and on. BUT it is also key to know exactly how to use this powerful substance, how to prepare a dilution of it and which dilution (strength) to use for different conditions, how often to dose, etc.

Remember to visit my HEAL YOUR SYMPTOMS section on this site to look up the home remedy instructions for whatever ails you and if the treatment involves wild oregano oil, I will talk directly about that on the relevant symptom page.

NOTE: Since Joy Of The Mountains added Vitamin A to its wild oregano oil, we have had some questions come in about whether it is fat soluble and what is the maximum daily amount of Vitamin A you can safely ingest.

Vitamin A is the name of a group of fat-soluble retinoids, including retinol, retinal, retinoic acid, and retinyl esters (Source: http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminA-HealthProfessional/ ) The form of Vit A that Joy Of The Mountains has used is Retinyl Palmitate, at 33.4 IU per drop

So a normal dosage of 10 drops would be 334 IU, taken 5x/day would be 3,340 IU per day; which is still well below the maximum RDA for PREGNANT women (who need to be careful with Vitamin A) of 10,000 IU per day.

However, much higher amounts of Vit. A are used for therapeutic purposes, like this:

Vitamin A, an antioxidant nutrient found in foods such as eggs and fish, has been shown in many studies to prevent and reverse cancerous changes in cells in some parts of the body, including the skin. One previous study found that people taking 25,000 IU of vitamin A per day for up to five years had a 32% reduction in risk of developing a common form of skin cancer.
In the current study, 129 people with severe sun damage on their forearms were randomly assigned to receive 25,000 IU; 50,000 IU; or 75,000 IU of vitamin A per day or placebo for one year. Biopsies of the forearm skin were done at the beginning and end of the study. Only 25% of people taking placebo had less skin damage at the end of the study than at the beginning; by contrast, 65% of those receiving 25,000 IU, 81% of those taking 50,000 IU, and 79% of those taking 75,000 IU of vitamin A per day had less damaged skin after one year. There was no sign of toxicity from any amount of vitamin A.

So in my opinion, the small amount of Vitamin A added should be fine, and likely a beneficial addition to my existing wild oregano oil protocols.

  2. I was in awe

Posted by Sharon on 27th Feb 2013

I purchased this for helping to alleviate internal inflammation which seems to be a major problem for me. I had just been to the gastroenterologist for my colonoscopy, but called a few weeks before hand to add an endoscopy as I was having a lot of pain in my stomach. When I received my Joy of the Mountains Organic Oil of Oregano, I took only three drops, since I had not used it before. I was in absolute awe. The fire in my stomach from 15 ulcers found during the endoscopy went out within minutes of taking the oil. I had been drinking eggnog and eating baby food I was so miserable. I also noticed a major improvement with my chronic sinus congestion. So I am happy. I only take it two times a day, and I am extremely impressed, and have already told several other people

  3. Miracle Product

Posted by Ayana on 3rd Jan 2013

When nothing else has seemed to work for fighting gut inflammation and pain this product is finally helping me to obtain results. You must take it 3 to 5 times a day for optimal results. I had been taking it once a day with few results. I wish I had done the therapy of 5 times per day earlier. I finally off all medications and able to eat regular foods again.
