This product includes the following materials that are either derived from or contain allergens which must be declared on labels per the US Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA):
None‡.

The production process used to manufacture the enzymes found in this product utilizes fermentation materials that are derived from or contain the allergens listed below. While these fermentation materials should be either consumed during fermentation or removed from the enzyme during additional enzyme isolation steps, minute traces of these allergens may be left in the final enzyme product. While these traces are expected to be below the limits of detection for standard ELISA based allergen testing methods‡, we cannot guarantee the complete absence of these allergens:
Wheat (gluten), soy.

‡NOTE: Enzymes and probiotics can interfere with common ELISA based allergen test kits, producing either false positives or false negatives in these tests. When performing allergen testing on enzyme containing products, special sample preparation techniques must be utilized to avoid this interference.

Jini Says +

These chewable enzymes taste really good - my kids actually ask for them! Remember, that if you're having more than 3 bowel movements per day, you will not likely benefit from pills/capsules (gut transit time is too fast) - so in that case, it's best to use these chewables.
Ideally, you should get your digestive enzymes from your food (raw foods, fermented foods, homemade yoghurt, etc.) and from your body's own production. However, for those times you need some additional support, you can take these natural digestive enzymes with or after meals.

I searched a long time before finding a digestive enzyme supplement that I could recommend, or feel good about taking myself.

Many digestive enzymes are cultured on aspergillus oryzae (mold), but then are not filtered properly and you end up ingesting the spores - not good for someone with unbalanced or susceptible gut flora to begin with!

But these Houston Enzymes derived from Aspergillus have been purified from the fungal matter using 8 to 12 different methods of purification. No fungal matter is present in this enzyme product. If you have a known allergy to Aspergillus proteins, then caution should be used in taking any fungal-derived enzyme product, however, the allergenic portions of Aspergillus are usually those parts of the fungi removed from the enzymes during processing.

Take enzymes with the first few bites of your meal or just prior to mealtime. But more important is to take the enzyme, if not at the beginning, then during or after eating. Food stays in the stomach for up to 2 hours, therefore, introducing enzymes anytime during the meal will still provide benefits.

If you are a "grazer", that is, someone who eats constantly during the day, you may wish to take the enzymes at fixed dosing intervals, such as every 4 or 5 hours during the day.

New & Improved
TriEnza Chewable is our multi-enzyme formula in a flavored tablet. The flavor is a natural pomegranate-lemonade.

TriEnza Chewable dosing is different from our other chewable. Dosing for TriEnza Chewable is 4 tablets per meal. Small meals may require less, and large meals may require more. Comparing to the capsule version of TriEnza, two (2) tablets equal one (1) capsule in enzyme activity.

  • Enzyme product for multiple food intolerances
  • Supports digestion of gluten, dairy, proteins, carbohydrates, polyphenols and fats
  • Includes the DPP IV ("DPP 4") enzyme to support the digestion of gluteomorphin (from gluten) and casomorphin (from dairy casein)
  • Reduces occasional gas and bloating

TriEnza® provides digestive support for a broad range of foods.

The unique blend of enzymes in TriEnza breaks down foods to help prevent occasional digestive discomfort from food intolerances.

The enzymes in TriEnza offer support for:

  • Food proteins
  • Gluten
  • Casein in dairy
  • Carbohydrates
  • Sugars
  • Lactose
  • Polyphenolic vegetables and fruits
  • Fats in foods and supplements
  • Fiber

TriEnza was specially formulated for your dietary needs by biochemist Devin Houston, Ph.D.

Who should use TriEnza?

If you need support for the digestion of multiple types of foods, try TriEnza.

What's new & improved with TriEnza?

As of July 2, 2019, we've made a few updates to the TriEnza formula to bring you even better support for digesting a range of foods.

The changes we made to TriEnza should result in a product better able to:

  • Break down gluten, dairy casein, soy, and meat protein.
  • Support digestion of the sugars sucrose and maltose, which will also be helpful for the gut microbiome.
  • Help with occasional gas and bloating through fiber breakdown.

  1. Better support for protein digestion, including gluten and casein.

    We exchanged a Protease.
We exchanged one of the proteases, an enzyme for proteins, for a particular newer protease which is more efficient for the breakdown of gluten, dairy casein, soy and other food proteins. This enzyme is listed as “Protease” on the TriEnza label.

    We reduced the DPP IV.
In order to add the new Protease, we reduced the amount of another enzyme for proteins, referred to as “Peptidase with DPP IV”. With the addition of the new Protease, the need for the DPP IV Peptidase enzyme is less.

We also believe that the DPP IV Peptidase may be an enzyme that some consumers cannot tolerate. We hope reducing the amount of this enzyme, without any loss of ability to break down proteins, will allow others to better tolerate TriEnza.

  2. Improved enzyme breakdown for sugars.

    We added Invertase.
We’ve added the enzyme Invertase to better break down table sugar, known as sucrose.

    We added Diastase.
To help with another common sugar, maltose, TriEnza now has the enzyme Diastase on the label. Diastase works to break down the maltose that results from eating starches.

  3. More support for gas and bloating from fiber.

    We increased the Cellulase.
Most gas and bloating from meals is actually due to the fiber present. To help with this issue, we added Cellulase. Celluase can work on fiber along with the other two fiber enzymes already present in TriEnza (Xylanase and Beta-glucanase).

Fiber breakdown contributes to a healthy environment for gut bacteria. TriEnza can help reduce the amount of gas and bloating by making the fiber more soluble (dissolvable in water) and digestible.

    We removed the Alpha-galactosidase.
TriEnza’s update includes removing the enzyme Alpha-galactosidase, which allowed for increasing the Cellulase. This enzyme is limited to working on two of the starches found in beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. Other products with Alpha-galactosidase are readily available for consumers seeking that particular enzyme, such as ZyCarb or Zyme Prime.

A few changes were made to the Other Ingredients for our updated TriEnza formulas:

  • TriEnza capsules now have Medium Chain Triglyceride Powder added, derived from palm/coconut kernel oil.
  • TriEnza Chewables now have the sweetener Xylitol added.
  • TriEnza Powder now has Microcrystalline Cellulose added. The Medium Chain Triglyceride Powder in TriEnza Powder is derived from palm/coconut kernel oil.

TriEnza is still our best broad-spectrum enzyme product for protein, gluten, dairy, starches, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, and polyphenolic foods.
