I tested about 8 different brands of coconut oil before selecting this one. Not only is it organic and fair trade (at a very competitive price), it has a wonderful taste and texture.
This white kernel virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed from only from the white part of the coconut kernel, therefore it has only a very slight coconut smell; it is a more neutral smelling oil. If you prefer the fresh coconut smell, then purchase our other coconut oil made from the WHOLE kernel.
You can use this coconut oil for high heat cooking, frying, baking or you can use it as a moisturizer for your skin. Here's my recipe for turning this coconut oil into a wonderful light, fluffy moisturizer that can be used for the body or face:
Whipped Coconut Body Butter
1 cup raw, unrefined coconut oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional - for added moisturizing, skin health, but not needed) 20 - 30 drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance (optional - I like lavender, or grapefruit or rose, all work well with coconut)
1. Put all ingredients into your blender. (You do not have to melt the coconut oil first.)
2. Mix on high speed in your blender (or use a hand held blender) until whipped into a light, airy consistency.
3. Spoon the whipped coconut oil body butter into a glass jar and cover tightly. Store at room temperature, or in the refrigerator if your house is so warm it melts the oil.
Note: Whipped coconut oil should stay relatively soft, even at colder temperatures. You could also use a hand held beater to make this recipe.
