Wisdom Naturals SweetLeaf Stevia Powdered Extract is extremely sweet, with no bitter aftertaste when used sparingly. Stevia Extract is heat stable and is safe for diabetics and hypoglycemics.

This pure, premium quality product contains only organic stevia leaf extract and has not been mixed with any other ingredients. It is extremely concentrated and must be used very sparingly for best results.

Just a small amount of SweetLeaf Organic Stevia Extract goes a long way. The plant-derived sweetness of stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar. These extracts harness that sweetness to provide a concentrated product. The 25-gram shaker contains 1,000 servings—the equivalent of almost 17 pounds of sugar!

The stevia plant was first "discovered" by Spanish Conquistadors in South America in the 1700's. They learned about stevia from the local Guarani and Mato Grosso Indians who used stevia leaves to sweeten their medicines and teas. The Indians called the plant Caa-Hee (Honey Leaf).

Ingredients: Organic Stevia Leaf Extract.

Suggested Use: Add 1/3 teaspoon to supplement 2 quarts of unsweetened beverage, or use sparingly to supplement desired food preparations. Reduce sugar usage by one cup for each 1/3 teaspoon of Stevia Extract used.

Since the 1970's, Stevia has been used in Japan, Brazil, Paraguay, Korea, Thailand, and China among others. It is used as a table top sweetener, in soft drinks, baked goods, pickles, fruit juices, tobacco products, confectionery uses, jams and jellies, candies, yogurts, pastries, chewing gum, toothpaste, etc. Basically, anywhere you use sugar, you can replace it with stevia.

It has a slight aftertaste (when used on its own) that can be completely eliminated by mixing stevia together with your regular sweetener; like sugar, honey, agave, etc.

Stevia is a 100% natural plant extract that is 200-300 times sweeter than sugar. It is the best alternative to sugar on the market and preliminary studies suggest it’s actually beneficial for diabetics. Use (a tiny amount of it) wherever you would normally use sugar (beverages, cooking, baking, etc.). The taste of Stevia depends on whether it is whole leaf stevia, or stevia extract; how pure the extract is and whether there are any fillers added to it. The brands I’ve selected are of the highest/purest quality, with no added fillers.

If you want the stevia taste to be completely undetectable in your baking, then use half regular sweetener (eg. honey, maple syrup, rapadura or turbinado sugar) and use stevia extract for the other half. A good rule of thumb is 1/2 tsp stevia extract = 1 cup sugar. So, for example, if your cake recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, then use 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp stevia.

Also, this stevia extract jar lists a super light weight because it is so finely powdered, but there's actually a good amount of product here - about the size of a regular spice bottle (approx. 4" x 1.5")

NOTE: The difference in pricing of the stevia products is because some are WHOLE stevia leaf (which is less sweet and has a much stronger "licorice" aftertaste) and the more expensive ones are white, stevia EXTRACT (which has a very slight aftertaste and is the sweetest, hence you use a lot less - I prefer this extract).
