This is one of my most favorite products (from Switzerland) that I am never without! Like wild oregano and comfrey it is multi-tasking and very effective for a number of uses.
Here's how my family and I use this wonderful Olbas Salve:
Colds and Stuffy Noses
I rub some on the kids' chest and then a very small amount on the sides of their nose (do not apply under the nose, or inside the nose - it is too strong). Same thing works for adults too! If you do the neti pot first, then olbas salve like this, you are sleeping through the night no matter how bad the cold.
When they were toddlers, they would wake up in the night (because they couldn't breathe) and then we'd just re-apply and they'd be asleep within a few minutes.
When my kids were babies, I would rub a small strip on my breast when they were breastfeeding (near their nose) and that would clear their nose so they could feed properly. You can also put some masking tape on the baby's bottle (above where their nose will be) and then apply a thin strip of salve to the masking tape - be careful that it never touches baby's face.
Headache
If you have a headache, apply Olbas Salve to your temples and across your forehead.
Sinus Pain
If you have pain or a headache from your sinuses, then apply to your temples, across your forehead, the sides of your nose and along the bony ridge under your eyes (keep well away from eyes).
Swollen Lymph Nodes
When you have a cough, cold, or sore throat, often your lymph nodes under your jaw or the sides of your neck will be swollen and tender. Apply Olbas Salve to all these places, stroking very gently in a downward motion towards your torso (this helps the lymph to drain).
