How To Mix Absorb Plus:

Pour 1 cup (8 ounces) of cold water* into a shaker or blender, then add:
1 tsp. - 1 tbsp. organic flax, MCT, or Udo's Oil (as much as you can tolerate)
2 level scoops Absorb Plus
Shake vigorously, or whip on low speed for 10 seconds
Add ice (if you wish) and drink slowly.

*Use cold or room temperature water (spring or filtered recommended). Do not use hot water. You can use liquids other than water (raw milk, nut milk, rice milk, etc) but then the shake will no longer be elemental. Refrigerate any unused portion and discard after 4 hours.

Jini Says +

If you've tasted any elemental, free-form amino acid products, then you'll know they usually taste pretty bad! Well I'm pleased to say that my nit-picky, perfectionist nature has found happiness in formulating a free-form amino elemental shake that actually tastes decent.

I wouldn't say it tastes yummy - except maybe in comparison to other amino products! - but AP Amino is decent and definitely WAY better tasting than any other product out there.

If you are already at a healthy weight, then this is the formula for you! Because the body cannot use free-form amino acids alone to gain weight (muscle). If you are in active disease state, you may have difficulty maintaining or gaining weight on this formula, so you will likely have to increase your daily caloric intake, or alternate with Absorb Plus Vegan or Original.

If you are using an exclusively elemental diet for SIBO, IBS, Candida, or allergy testing/clearance, then this formula may work well for a shorter duration diet (1-2 weeks) due to the lowered carb content. But if you are using Absorb Plus Amino in combination with easily tolerated foods, or alternating with Absorb Plus Vegan or Original, then it will probably work well to stay on AP Amino as long as you like.

A hypoallergenic formula like this is ideal to use as a clearance diet, and then begin testing for food allergies by introducing one food per day, or one new food every 3 days. It's also a good formula to alternate with AP Vegan or Original - to avoid creating a protein intolerance.

Way back when I first went on an elemental diet (almost 25 years ago!) I found I could not maintain or gain weight on a free-form amino acid shake. However, I recently had a conversation with holistic health coach, Debbie Steinbock, who has guided over 50 clients through an elemental diet, and she told me that as long as people ingested about 400 calories more than they needed, they could maintain their weight on a free-form amino acid shake. Of course, if you want a healthy way to lose a few pounds, then you're good! Either way, if you have any difficulties, you can alternate with Absorb Plus Vegan or Original.

ABSORB PLUS AMINO is classified as an Elemental free-form amino acid formula because the protein component is composed of free-form amino acids only.

PLEASE TRY A SAMPLE FIRST BEFORE ORDERING! We do not accept returns on opened products, so before ordering large tubs, please try a sample first to check for allergies or intolerance.

Absorb Plus Amino is a 100% natural, elemental (pre-digested for maximum absorption to the bloodstream within 20 minutes of ingestion) liquid protein shake.

Certified gluten-free (less than 20 ppm). Made with 100% natural flavors. No artificial ingredients or preservatives.

What are the benefits of Absorb Plus Amino?

  • Easy and gentle on your stomach and digestive system
  • Daily nutritional support
  • Delicious taste - and all natural!
  • Feel more energy and sleep better

May be used exclusively as part of an elemental, bowel rest diet (reduced fecal matter), along with other foods as part of a low residue diet, or to provide high-quality nutrients in liquid, easily-digested form. May also be used for food clearance or allergy testing. Absorb Plus Amino has been carefully formulated to meet the unique needs of people who have problems chewing, swallowing, digesting, or absorbing their food. BEST tasting elemental shake on the market!

In addition to 13 grams of free-form amino acids as the protein source, Absorb Plus Amino ALSO contains a custom-blend of 10 additional targeted amino acids, for example:

• L-Serine for the production of immunoglobulins and antibodies
• L-Threonine to aid the formation of collagen and elastin
• L-Cysteine to aid wound healing
• L-Tyrosine to aid the function of pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands
• L-Aspartic Acid to protect the liver
• L-Proline to aid cartilage, and strengthen joints, tendons, and heart muscle

Our vitamin and mineral panel:

• Full panel of trace minerals – trace mineral deficiency is common in chronic illness.
• Also contains 10 mcg Vitamin K2 (as MK-7; first identified by Dr. Weston A. Price as "Activator X") per serving. Along with the full spectrum of B vitamins and Iodine.
• Contains full electrolyte panel.

Formulated to allow people to add their own amount of good fat – since everyone's fat tolerance level varies. We suggest adding 1 tbsp. of MCT oil, or cold-pressed organic flax, or Udo's Choice oil

The amount of organic tapioca (cassava root) maltodextrin in this formula is lower than in the Original or Vegan formulas (less than half the amount), so it's ideal for people looking to reduce carbohydrate ingestion.

The coco-choc natural flavor is completely unsweetened.

The orange-mango natural flavor is lightly sweetened with the stevia herb.

Please Note: We strongly advise you purchase a few sample sizes of Absorb Plus Amino, or just 1 tub, before buying the volume needed to do a full elemental diet. This will allow you to check for allergies or intolerance to any of the ingredients. Signs of intolerance or food allergy include brain fog, grogginess, sore joints, headaches, nausea, gut pain, skin rash, blurred vision, asthma, chest pains, edema, elevated blood pressure, etc.

Absorb Plus Amino was formulated by colon and bowel disorder expert Jini Patel Thompson to provide maximum nutrition to help build and strengthen your immune system and allow you to maintain or gain solid weight (muscle, not fat). Absorb Plus Amino provides nutrients, supplements, free-form amino acids, and carbohydrates (organic tapioca maltodextrin - from cassava root) in the most desirable forms and proportions, and in ratios that allow for optimum use and absorption. This liquid diet protein shake also includes an extensive array of therapeutic free-form amino acids, with a superior vitamin and mineral profile (including trace minerals).

There are approximately 10 servings per jar - sometimes a little bit more, sometimes a little bit less as Absorb Plus Amino is packed by weight and there can be some settling during shipping and storage. Start with half a serving and build up gradually, allowing your body time to adjust.

When evaluating competitive free-form amino acid elemental products, be sure to look at how much maltodextrin (and what type) is in each serving as the carbohydrate component varies widely, as does the amount of protein (the most expensive ingredient).

Unsweetened Coco-choc is not elemental, it has 3g of fiber /serving

I did 19 days on the elemental diet, taking CH4 and H2 measurements along the way with a Food Marble device. There was a clear spike in gas leves after taking the this shake, in other words, it seemed to cause fermentation, what the elemental diet is supposed to avoid, at least for SIBO sufferers. I'm a bit disappointed and I still have the tub practically full of this stuff! Stick to the Physicians Formula.

Shaking it up

I really looked forward to this shake every morning. I mix it with bananas and blueberries and it gives it just the right amount of sweetness. Its easy on the stomach and it fills me up until lunch. Thanks for the shakes!

Stevia or Fiber!!!

After purchasing an entire coarse for SIBO year ago, I swell up like I just ate an entire Thanksgiving meal after only one shake EVERY time I try this formula. Just found out Stevia cannot be easily digested and is NOT recommended for SIBO patients per the leading expert. The chocolate flavor has no Stevia but high fiber, another ingredient not recommended for SIBO patients. If the Stevia and fiber were not in these, then these products would be amazing as the rest of the ingredients are pure and high quality. However, I wasted a year of my life and a large sum of money trying to do an elemental diet with ingredients I now know are NOT recommended for SIBO patients. Hope this review helps other SIBO patients desperately searching for a formula that you can add your own fat to.

We're so sorry you had such a disappointing experience, Heather. I hope you returned the unopened tubs for a full refund. To address your points, yes, you can avoid Stevia if you wish by using the Coco-Choc flavor. But know that Jini has done an in-depth podcast with a Pediatrician (MD) who specializes in elemental diets and he offers the stevia versions to his patients. Also, please know that there is no fiber (polysaccharide) in any of the Absorb Plus shakes. There is a carbohydrate component, - Organic tapioca maltodextrin, which is a glucose polymer. You will find this present in every elemental shake (including Vivonex, which was used in the clinical trial for SIBO) and Physician's Formula. Josh Sabourin over at SIBO Survivor also recommends Absorb Plus Amino to all his followers. I'm sorry you had a reaction/intolerance to the shakes—perhaps you are allergic to a component of them? Jini recently published a YouTube video on how to distinguish between a Herxheimer (pathogen die-off reaction) and an intolerance. Perhaps it would be helpful for you in future endeavours. I wish you all the best.
